Barton Rovers bolster their squad with new signings

Barton Rovers have extended striker Rob Hastings’ loan from Skill South side Boreham Wood for another month, while capturing Luke Abraham from Calor Southern League Premier Division neighbours Arlesey Town.

On Hastings, whose loan spell has been disrupted by the wet weather, Rovers boss Dan Kennoy said: “Rob has been unlucky with the lack of games we have played during this awful spell of weather.

“But in the short time he has been with us he has shown us the quality that we will need to keep our season going in the right direction.”

Abraham’s arrival took a bit longer than expected, but Kennoy is delighted to now have him available.

“Luke is a very good player,” he said. “He was with Aylesbury last year and had a very good season which included scoring against us.

“He is an attacking, left-sided full-back or midfielder and has a great left foot from set-pieces which is why Zema Abbey signed him in pre-season for Arlesey.

“I’m delighted he has agreed to join us and he will help us massively to achieve some sort of success this season.”

Meanwhile, Rovers have allowed both Sam Pemberton and Nyasha Sagwete to go out on dual-registration to Stotfold in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division to gain match fitness.

Kennoy made the decision after both players agreed that they needed minutes if they were to make a significant contribution to Rovers’ play-off chances.

“I rate both of these lads. Both are young and have great attitudes,” Kennoy added.

“They understand that they need to be match sharp if they are to take their chance when it comes.

“Steve Young and Tony Lamacraft at Stotfold will keep me informed of their performances and when we need either of these lads back they will only be a phonecall away.

“With the probability of us having to play Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday nights some weeks we need 19 to 20 players fit and ready to take points in the league. This provides an ideal solution of all concerned.”
