BARTON Rovers’ Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central play-off hopes faded after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Northwood at the weekend.

The visitors had the best of the opening 10 minutes with chances for Dave Parkinson Luke Knight and Russell Bull.

Despite the pressure, Northwood went 1-0 up against the run of play on 15 minutes as Jonathon Constant netted.

After the break, Barton came close through Bull, Knight, Parkinson and Ricky Case, before the referee took over, denying three clear fouls on Parkinson as he raced clear.

To rub salt in the wounds, Northwood the were awarded a spot-kick that Constant converting for a barely deserved win.

Rovers are now eight points away from the play-offs and travel to AFC Hayes on Saturday.
