Blues batter Berkhamsted as Dunstable Town march on

Molten Spartan SML, Premier Division: Berkhamsted 1 Dunstable Town 4

Dunstable Town completed another league double as they triumphed 4-1 over Berkhamsted in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division at Broadwater on Tuesday night.

With a trip to London Colney coming tomorrow night (Thursday) Town rotated their squad, but the Blues were still too strong.

The hosts began earnestly but found no way past Dunstable’s well-organised defence.

Town took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Moses Olaleye kept the ball in play by the corner flag and his cross was converted by Nathan Frater for his 18th goal of the season.

Berko fought back and almost equalised when Bekim Culaj’s shot struck the foot of the post before being cleared off the line by Tony Fontanelle.

At the other end Tony Burnett’s header beat Carl Tasker but a defender was able to prevent the ball crossing the line.

A Newman Carney free-kick on the right just before half time caused mayhem in the home penalty area and Dunstable defender Graeme Buchanan managed the final touch to double the visitors’ advantage.

Dunstable looked comfortable after the break and extended their when Fontanelle produced an inspired run as he cut in from the right and his long-range effort took a slight deflection on its way into the bottom left corner.

Both Tasker and Taylor had decent shots to save, before Berko scored a consolation goal through substitute Myles Stephenson after a good spell.

But Dunstable were not through yet as Stefan Bailey scored his first goal for the club late on with a diving header.
