Dunstable had made a number of changes to the side that beat title rivals Oxhey Jets 4-0 on Saturday, and struggled to find their rhythm as they trailed at the break.

Town’s best effort had come from new signing and ex-QPR man Stefan Bailey, whose fierce shot struck the bar.

The second half was entirely different, and Dunstable levelled on 53 minutes courtesy of a close range header from Tony Burnett.

The hosts attacked repeatedly and, four minutes later, Newman Carney’s free-kick was converted by Lee Roache for his 42nd goal of the season.

And the points were secured on 63 minutes when Bailey sent in a fine cross, which Nathan Frater controlled well before scoring his 16th goal of the season.

Dunstable are now 13 points ahead of second placed Oxhey, who have two games in hand. Blues face Leverstock Green on Saturday and Biggleswade United on Tuesday.

Blues: Taylor, Mills, Carney, Deaton, Leach, Bailey (Buchanan), Olaleye, Burnett (Jackson) Roache, Frater, Christie (Fontnelle).

>> Meanwhile in the quarter-finals of the Reserve Challenge Trophy Crawley Green lost 1-0 at Kings Langley.
