Blues earn bragging rights after AFC victory

Impressive Dunstable Town claimed the local bragging rights as they beat rivals AFC Dunstable convincingly 5-2 on Saturday at Creasey Park.

Town took the lead on eight minutes when Lee Roache converted Adam Watkins’ free kick.

In front of 137 fans, AFC responded well though and were rewarded with an equaliser after 28 minutes.

Town regained the lead in the 40th minute as Roache turned provider for Matt Nolan to give his side a 2-1 half-time advantage.

After the break, Town continued to show their dominance, as Danny Mead’s corner found Leon Cashman unmarked allowing him to smartly head home unchallenged.

Nathan Frater then increased Town’s lead on 67 minutes, before AFC pulled one back. Tony Burnett restored Town’s three goal advantage a minute later, strolling the ball into the net to complete an emphatic win.

Dunstable are at home to St Albans tonight.
