Dunstable Town picked up another highly creditable away point as they held Dorchester Town to a goalless draw at the weekend.

The visitors had a depleted squad available, naming only three subs as Lee Roache and Matty Nolan were injured, while David Keenleyside and Shane Blackett missed out too.

The onus was on the home side to go for their third win of the season, but visiting keeper Paul Bastock had little work early on.

Tony Lee headed Lewis Morgan’s cross wide, with the Blues’ lone striker Gary Wharton shooting over the bar.

Dorchester forced a few corners, but Dunstable’s defence held firm, while Mason Space set up Adam Watkins for a shot that went wide.

The Blues then had the ball in the net after a fine move involving Danny Talbot, Spence and Chris Marsh saw the latter turn the ball home, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

James Kaloczi took aim with an effort on the turn that didn’t trouble Alan Walker-Harris as both sides went into the break goalless.

In the second period, Marsh and Spence combined for Watkins to drag off target, while Spence then supplied the former Luton midfielder again, as his attempt deflected behind.

From the set-piece, Talbot’s header was straight at Walker-Harris, before the visitors defence had some work to do as Kaloczi and Ryan Plowright made important interventions, as did Zack Reynolds.

Dorchester then replaced Charlie Davis for Mark Irvine, while Dunstable turned to the pace of Lorenzo Ferrari, who came on for Spence.

Ferrari did show a good turn of speed with some individual runs but was dispossessed, while Watkins again tested Walker-Harris.

However, the best save of the half saw Blues keeper Bastock make an excellent reflex stop from Nick Crittenden to ensure his side left with a point.

Dunstable are at home to Redditch United this weekend.
