Blues gobble up the points

DUNSTABLE Town became only the second team to win at Hatfield’s new Gosling Stadium as they emerged with a 2-1 triumph in their Molten Spartan SML Premier Division clash on Tuesday night.

The Blues’ victory means they have now gone nine games unbeaten with seven wins and two draws to their name.

Dunstable had to come from behind though as Hatfield went ahead on just five minutes when Matt Standen broke free to score.

The home side dominated possession, but Town created the better chances only to find goalkeeper Sam Lacy in excellent form.

After the break, it was Dunstable who looked sharper and the introduction of Grant Carney proved the turning point as the substitute levelled after 57 minutes.

Blues goalkeeper Paul Taylor was at his best to claim Standen’s crosses, before Graeme Buchanan fired a shot over.

The winning goal arrived on 70 minutes when Jonathan Cooper won the ball in midfield and fed Kerran Birch who found the bottom corner.

The Blues also advanced in the FA Vase on Saturday when they hammered AFC Wallingford 5-0 with goals from Dean Whittaker, Nathan Miller, Luke Lincoln, Birch and Cooper.

Dunstable travel to St Margaretsbury in the league this weekend.
