Dunstable took another step towards the league title with a comfortable 3-1 win at the Middlesex Stadium on Tuesday night.

The visitors soon found their attacking rhythm but were met with some stout resistance as Tony Fontanelle shot wide and Marc Leach hit the bar with a header.

A cross from Newman Carney saw Fontanelle’s shot cleared and he came close as another drive and then a header were well saved.

It took until the 40th minute for the deadlock to be broken as Tony Burnett had the final touch following a shot from Damen Pickering.

After the break, BJ Christie eluded his marker to produce a calm finish, while Frater then set up Fontanelle to blast home an emphatic volley soon afterwards.

Borough rallied to some extent with good efforts from Lawrence and Laurenco, and they did get a consolatory goal late on as Kieron Gadwell’s shot was adjudged to have crossed the line.

Blues goalkeeper Paul Taylor also made a truly outstanding point blank save late on, but Dunstable extended their unbeaten league run to 36 games.
