Central Beds beat Premier League Chelsea to secure title

CENTRAL Bedfordshire College’s first team set a new record as they won the English Colleges U19 Elite League for a third year in a row.

They played against Premiership, Championship, League One and Two college teams, and secured the title before their last game against Chelsea at Bisham Abbey, due to Watford’s Harefield Academy, Barnet FC and Canvey Island FC dropping points.

Football development manager Colin Sharpe said: “Apart from winning the league the players have shown great character as they have drawn and lost more games this season than in the previous two years.

“However, it shows that if they work hard in training and apply themselves they will get the results that they deserve on the pitch.”
