A brace from hotshot AFC Dunstable striker BJ Christie earned them a 2-0 victory over Tring Athletic at Creasey Park in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division on Saturday.

AFC took a third minute lead when the in-form striker headed in Craig Butler’s inswinging corner.

Moments before half time Christie was on the receiving end of an atrocious tackle which saw the Tring player receive a straight red.

AFC dominated the second half, but were wasteful in front of goal until the dying moments when Christie produced a clinical finish with six minutes to go to end any hopes of a Tring comeback.

Caretaker manager Kevin Taylor said: “I was happy with the result, but more importantly the performance.

“The lads showed real commitment and desire to win and looked a different outfit to the AFC that lost to Holmer seven days before.

“It was a great team effort from front to back, I can’t recall many shots Ryan Derby had to save. BJ notched again and is on fire at the moment! We are in transition, but you can see the lads responding to the new changes.”

Tonight (Tuesday) AFC go to St Margaretsbury and on Saturday host Holmer Green.
