Cooper nets winner as Dunstable go through

Dunstable Town moved through to the Molten Spartan challenge Trophy quarter finals with a 2-1 home win over St Margaretsbury on Tuesday night.

The Blues took the lead when Graeme Buchanan hooked in at the near post from a corner on eight minutes.

Saints responded well though and Dunstable owed much to the hard work of Stuart Deaton whose interceptions were vital as goalkeeper Paul Taylor was kept busy too.

It was 1-1 moments before the break though as Sam Ruff was fouled in the area and Lee Roberts converted.

After the break, Dunstable’s two substitutes Jonathan Cooper and Chris Francis added extra pace and a greater threat in front of goal.

It was Cooper who won the match too as on 75 minutes he eluded his marker and saw his shot beat visiting keeper Matt Deamer.

Moses Olaleye and Francis came close to extended the lead in the closing moments, but Blues had done enough to go through.

Dunstable are without a game this weekend.
