The former Bournemouth player took to the field with bleached blonde hair, as when asked about the choice of colour afterwards, he said: “I just thought I’d change it up, it’s a bit lively, but it is what it is isn’t it.

“I had braids last year, didn’t go down great, blonde hair, gone down a bit better I think, but we’ll just keep changing it up. It’s something different, but I like it.

“I think he (Nathan Jones) would rather me be a skinhead if I’m honest, but that might not happen.”

On whether the rest of Town’s squad had given him a nickname yet, Cornick continued: “Draco Malfoy, that wasn’t nice, but other than that, just Draco Malfoy at the moment. Some love it, some don’t like it. It is what it is isn’t it, it’s a bit of fun and I like it so that’s the main thing.

“Blonde hair, one game, one goal, so it stays.”

The change didn’t take away any of Cornick’s searing pace while he also showed an eye for goal too, finding the bottom corner with a classy finish just minutes after coming in in the second half.

Boss Nathan Jones added: “These southern boys, they like to mix it up, but I thought he was excellent.

“If he puts in shifts, puts in performances like that, then he’s only going to get better and I don’t really care what haircut he has.”

Town continue their pre-season campaign when they return from Slovenia, as they travel to Oxford City (7.45pm) on Tuesday evening and then head to St Albans City (3pm) on Saturday, July 21.
