Crawley Green secure fourth spot after beating Langley

Crawley Green came from a goal down to win 3-1 against Kings Langley and secure a creditable fourth place in the Molten Spartan SML Division One.

Langley had the better of the opening moments and took the lead on seven minutes when James Armstrong got on the end of a cross from Tom Carter to score from close range.

Peter O’Donnell and Robbie O’Dell both headed efforts off the line as Langley continued to dominate, with Adam Hallissey seeing two shots blocked by Dean Bull and Chris Harvey.

Crawley slowly fought their way back into the game and O’Dell was fell on the edge of the box after 36 minutes as Jamie Warne drove the free kick through the wall and past Anthony Ladyman to make it 1-1.

In the second half Crawley took the game to Langley and quickly took the lead when Chris Gibson crossed for Stuart Strange to score from a yard out.

Ten minutes later Crawley increased their advantage as Warne collected a throw in from Craig Savage, cut in from the left and drove the ball past Ladyman into the bottom right hand corner.

Langley rallied in the closing stages but Crawley’s defence stood firm to secure a fine 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Crawley Green Reserves beat Harpenden Town Reserves 1-0 with a goal from Aaron Wilson.
