Chesham responded with a shot from Jack Harris which was blocked by Dean Bull, before Jay Caines fired over.

The hosts were in charge as Bull kept out an effort from Stephen Hamilton and then made an outstanding save from Caines to keep it 0-0 at the break.

In the second period, Crawley’s Alex Bennett was off target from a Craig Savage long throw, while Mark Smith’s penalty appeals were waved away.

The deadlock was broken on the hour when Jack Harris drove home to make it 1-0.

Chesham almost doubled their lead minutes late when Callum Woodcock broke clear but shot straight at Bull.

Green rallied and Aaron Brown had a cross saved by Tom Gowans, while Clayton’s effort was blocked and he headed Henry Mungwira’s cross wide.

As Crawley pushed for an equaliser, were caught on the break after 80 minutes, Caines crossing for Harris to make it 2-0.

Crawley’s Charlie Clayton and Jan Volodzko both had efforts blocked in the dying minutes, but Green couldn’t fight back as they dropped to second in the table behind Edgware Town on goal difference.

This weekend, they head to New Bradwell St Peter.
