Cuthbert will be given every chance to make Accrington clash

The centre half was forced off against Stevenage last weekend after suffering a muscle problem and speaking to the press today, boss Nathan Jones said: “We need to look at him, we’ll gauge him tomorrow. He felt something, hopefully we managed to pull him off before he suffered any damage.

“So we’ll have to gauge him and give him enough time as he’s important to us.”

Fellow defender Magnus Okuonghae is unavailable though after undergoing surgery on his knee, but Nathan Doyle is back in training once more as Jones added: “Magnus is the one who’s definitely out, he’s gone in and had an operation on his knee.

“It’s another knee operation we could without if you like, but everyone else is okay and we’re looking at being a lot stronger than we were.

“He’s (Doyle) trained for two weeks now, he’s making good progress and as long as he continues to make that progress then we might be in a position to use him.”

Should Cuthbert not recover in time, then there is a real possibility youth team captain Frankie Musonda could be called upon.

The 18-year-old was in the development side that beat Southend 3-1 on Tuesday and Jones confirmed he wouldn’t hesitate to use any of those players involved if he felt the time was right.

He added: “We’re always looking at those and when they’re ready they’ll get their opportunity regardless of age, regardless of what situation we’re in.

“We’re always look to bring them through as that’s the right thing to do. If people are good enough I want to play them, as I’ve got a big background in development and young players.

“I did it when I was assistant manager at Yeovil, I brought in top young players to play regardless of age, regardless of experience and they did fantastically well. So I’ve got no problem with doing that.”
