Derby day win for Dunstable Town

DUNSTABLE Town boosted their Molten Spartan SML Premier Division title credentials by ending local rivals and ground-sharers AFC Dunstable 16 game unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at Creasey Park on Saturday.

In front of a bumper crowd of 359, Town dominated the first half and then defended resolutely after the break, to remain level on points with Royston Town, who beat Hadley 3-1.

The only goal of the game came on 44 minutes when Lee Roache sent over a cross and man of the match Jack Nelly headed against the bar before Joseph Bruce turned the rebound past Nick Gardner.

Dunstable host Leighton Town in the Beds Senior Cup semi-final tomorrow, while they travel to St Margaretsbury this weekend and visit Tring Athletic the following Tuesday.

AFC host Haringey Borough on Saturday.
