Dunstable defeat Chesham to finally end winless streak

Southern League Premier Division: Chesham United 1 Dunstable Town 3

Dunstable Town finally ended their run of 11 games without a win in some style, triumphing 3-1 at Chesham United on Saturday.

Chris Marsh missed out with injury, while Nick Beasant has been released, but Charlie Henry, Ben Herd and Tony Burnett all came back into the side.

The Blues started well as Burnett hit the bar, while striker Inih Effiong, against his former club, sent a snapshot wide.

Scott Davies was narrowly off target, but Dunstable had the lead on 30 minutes when Effiong saw his shot beat ex-Luton Town keeper Shane Gore.

However, Chesham were level three minutes later as Dave Pearce was on target for Chesham.

The goal didn’t dent Dunstable’s confidence though as just before half time. Alex Brown fouled Herd, who got up to convert the penalty with consummate ease.

Effiong was replaced by Gary Mulligan in the second period, as he shot straight at Gore, while Adam Watkins had two attempts blocked by covering defenders.

Jamale McKenzie-Lowe came on for Burnett and he sealed victory with 10 minutes to go.

Chesham tried to rally, as they hit the post late on, but Dunstable held on for a first league victory since October 4 and travel to Slough Town this weekend.
