Dunstable Town were held to a draw by Southern League Division One Central side Aylesbury FC in their pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The visitors started well as Charlie Henry and Scott Davies combined for Adam Watkins who saw his shot blocked for a corner.

From the set-piece, Nick Beasant produced a deft header to put the Blues 1-0 ahead.

Town continued to apply pressure as Terry Dixon’s effort was deflected and then put a header narrowy wide.

Full back Ben Herd was denied by a fine save, as Dunstable went into the break a goal to the good.

In the second period, the Blues found it hard to get going as keeper Jamie Head produced a finger tip save to keep his side ahead.

Beasant headed straight at the keeper from Chris Marsh’s free kick, while Elliott Sandy should have done better with his chance and Marsh’s sparkling run ended with a shot that was saved.

Aylesbury levelled with less than 15 minutes go as Lynton Goss netted, with Dunstable then indebted to a good stop from Ben Barnes to ensure they left with a draw.
