Dunstable plunder 11 past sorry Holmer Green

Dunstable Town destroyed second bottom Holmer Green 11-0 on Tuesday night to increase their lead at the top of the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division to six points.

Blues eventually finished just one short of their record 12-0 win over Welwyn Garden City three years ago.

Holmer keeper Dan Little had made two splendid saves from a Tony Burnett header and Jonathan Cooper’s shot early on.

Relentless Town attacks followed though as Chris Francis opened the scoring after 10 minutes, with Cooper adding a second eight minutes later.

Newman Carney volleyed a third from Danny Hutchins’ cross and Carney repaid the compliment by setting up Hutchins for the fourth.

Unchallenged, Hutchins stroked home three minutes into the second half and Burnett’s solo effort made it 6-0.

Cooper eased past the defence to sidefoot in the seventh and Hutchins completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Tom Alabaster was given a straight red card to add to the visitors’ woes.

Substitute Lee Roache made it nine from close range to make it 24 goals in as many appearances for the stiker, before Francis netted two late goals to complete his hat-trick and end a remarkable night for the Blues.

Dunstable travel to Peterborough Northern Star in the second round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

Blues: Taylor, Mills, Mead, Pickering, George, Olaleye, Carney, Cooper (Barnett), Francis, Burnett (Frater), Hutchins (Roache).
