Dunstable sign up former Hatter Blackett

Ambitious Dunstable Town have swooped to sign former Luton Town defender Shane Blackett, writes Mark Wood.

Director of football John McLoughlin hailed the addition of the Arlesey Town defender, who made 51 appearances scoring once for Hatters, as the last piece in the jigsaw as the Blues bid for a second straight promotion.

He added: “Shane is the final signing to the squad and comes with a wealth of experience.

“He has a total understanding of our ambition to move the club forward.”

Meanwhile, it looks like talented youngster Newman Carney could be heading to Blue Square Bet Premier side Cambridge United on trial to join former Hatters manager Richard Money who is in charge there and gave the ex-Luton player his debut at Kenilworth Road.
