Dunstable Town slipped to their eighth straight defeat in all competitions as they were beaten by Truro City at Creasey Park on Saturday.

New signing Inih Effiong was on the bench after joining from Chesham United last week, while skipper Ben Herd was back from injury too.

The hosts went close early on as Jemale McKenzie-Lowe’s header was cleared off the line by Steve Tully, while when the Dunstable striker did find the net, it was ruled out for offside.

City had chances too as Craig Duff’s effort was inches wide, before Dunstable threatened once more, Scott Davies’ free kick narrowly off target.

Truro were in front on 17 minutes though when Shane Blackett couldn’t clear and Matt Wright pounced to break the deadlock.

The visitors had a second goal midway through the first half when Ed Palmer’s masterful free kick was met smartly by Wright to double his tally.

Blues tried to mount a come back as Chris Marsh shot wide and they were close again in the second period, Adam Watkins and Steven Gregory combining for McKenzie-Lowe, but he missed the target.

Effiong then replaced McKenzie-Lowe as Truro looked for a third, with Dunstable keeper Luke Chambers making some good stops.

The hosts did find a way back into the game with 20 minutes to go as Watkins and Marsh set up Effiong to score a debut goal.

With Dunstable eager to equalise, Chambers had to make a fine stop from Dan Green, while Davies’ came closest for Dunstable, as his low effort was stopped by Charlie Burns.

The Blues travel to Hitchin Town this evening.
