Dunstable slip to last-gasp defeat

Dunstable Town suffered a cruel last minute defeat against league leaders Poole Town on Tuesday night.

The Blues were without Shane Blackett, but had Charlie Henry back, as they started well with David Lynn’s cross glanced wide by Inih Effiong.

Poole threatened too though as Jack Maloney was denied by a magnificent save from Luke Chambers, although Michael Walker was lucky to see just yellow for a poor challenge on Scott Davies.

Dunstable kept pusting though Effiong missed two decent chances, while Chambers made a handful of good stops too.

After the break, Blues skipper Ben Herd was on hand to make a goal-line clearance, while Luke Ruddick had to be replaced by Gary Mulligam who slotted into his defensive role admirably.

A Davies free kick was deflected for a corner, while Adam Watkins saw his shot blocked, although Poole should have taken the lead, only to fluff an opportunity that looked easier to score.

With time running out, the Dolphins’ stole all three points when Richard Gillespie’s strike from distance beat Chambers and found the net.

Dunstable visit Cambridge City this weekend.
