Dunstable Town hammer Hertford

DUNSTABLE Town made it six Molten Spartan SML Premier Division games without defeat as they hammered Hertford Town 5-1 on Tuesday night

Blues looked impressive from the outset and went in front after just seven minutes when a sweet passing move was smartly finished off by Joseph Reynolds.

Dominating possession, Dunstable attacked continually to expose the weaknesses of the Hertford defence and went 2-0 ahead when visiting keeper Lee Robinson’s clearance fell to Jonathan Cooper, who lobbed home.

The best goal of the night came when Russell Preston exchanged passes with Daniel Hutchins, who produced a predatory finish.

Hertford pulled a goal back just before the break through Mark Draper, but Dunstable went straight up the other end to net their fourth when Cooper dispossessed a dithering defender to slot his second.

In the second half the visitors improved, but failed to reduce the deficit due to some woeful finishing.

Dunstable rode the storm though and ended the game on a high when Reynolds’ measured cross was stroked home by substitute Grant Carney.

The result sees Blues sitting eighth in the table, 16 points behind leaders Leverstock Green, who lost on Tuesday night, with five games in hand.

On Saturday, Dunstable were 3-1 winners over Royston Town at Creasey Park with goals from Joseph Bruce, Carney and Nathan Frater.

Blues host Southern Premier League side Chesham United in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday and travel to Aylesbury United in the league on Wednesday.
