Early blitz sees Crawley Green cruise past Hillingdon

Three goals in the opening 15 minutes secured Crawley Green a 3-1 victory over Hillingdon Borough at the weekend.

The hosts were out of the blocks quickly as on two minutes, Aaron Brown’s cross was turned in by Terry Billy.

Two minutes later, Henry Mungwira turned provider down the right and his cross was duly despatched by Brown.

Brown and Mungwira both had shots saved by Adam Mills, before the third arrived after quarter of an hour when Mark Smith set up Billy for his second.

With the game already won, slowly Borough tried to mount a response as Charlie Crane’s free kick was saved by Dean Bull, with keeper claiming Dwaine Thomas’ header too.

After the break, Hillingdon did reduce the arrears when Thomas scored from close range.

Both sides were then reduced to 10 men as Crawley’s Tom Barnett and Thomas received second yellow cards after a melee.

Green responded with an effort from Mungwira which was parried by Hills and the ball cleared off the line by Lee McManus.

Back came Borough with an effort from Paul Underwood which was saved by Bull, while in the closing stages Crawley looked for a fourth as Kane Dempsey and Charlie Clayton both had shots saved by Hills.

The result saw Crawley stay second in the table, nine points behind leaders Edgware, as tomorrow night, they entertain Risborough Rangers.
