Blues captain Ben Herd gained possession on the right, he cut in almost unchallenged and his measured pass to the prowling Effiong enabled the striker to maintain his record of a goal in every game.

Just after the half hour Dunstable doubled their lead, winger Steven Gregory supplied the sprightly Tony Burnett, who eluded a challenge and slipped the ball past Somerville from close range.

Dunstable struck again moments before the interval with a third goal and it was Effiong’s second of the game. Danny May played a neat through ball to Effiong who hooked the ball over Somerville for the goal of the game, and the in-form striker’s fifth in three games.

The second started off with Dunstable just stroking the ball around, which resulted in Slough getting frustrated and shortley after the start of the second half the hosts were reduced to 10 men.

Slough defender Dobson fouled Herd twice in as many minutes to earn himself two yellow cards, which rounded off a terrible day for the Rebels.

The vistors gained complete control for the rest of the match, the best chance of the second half fell to substitute Gary Mulligan who missed a close range effort.

Next up for Dunstable are Hereford United at home on Saturday before they visit leaders Poole on Tuesday.
