With the team in transition, new manager Steve Heath introduced another signing in teenager Tyler Smith.

The side is now slowly taking shape after the mass exodus, as Connor Smith led the line extremely well alongside Ryan Quinn.

Smith should have opened the scoring on 16 minutes, when he saw his header from Courtney Massey’s cross smack against the crossbar.

It wasn’t turning out to be Smith’s day, when four minutes later a deft lob was saved by Harry Ricketts.

With half time approaching, a sweet strike by Connor Deadman had Ricketts scrambling to save.

In the second period, AFC took a deserved lead on the hour as Lee Stobbs netted.

Hertford levelled on 72 minutes though when Charlie Smith’s shot took a wicked deflection and left AFC keeper Ryan Darby flat footed.

Connor Smith almost won it late on, but was denied by two fantastic saves.
