Former AFC Dunstable youngster dreaming of Wembley

The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Sky Bet League One club Walsall, helped his side defeat Preston North End in the first leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy semi-final last week.

Cain played 90 minutes as the Saddlers triumphed 2-0 and are well placed ahead of their home leg tonight.

The midfielder came through the AFC Dunstable youth system, before being snapped up by Luton Town.

He left the Hatters in September 2011 when Leicester City signed him for an undisclosed five figure fee and made his debut for the Foxes in the Capital One Cup this term.

After a loan spell at Mansfield last season, he joined Walsall this term and has played 19 times and scored three times, including twice in his last two games.

It was confirmed last week that the youngster will remain at the Bescot Stadium until the end of the season as Cain’s manager at AFC, Duncan Park, said “It was no surprise that Michael has made the grade. He was a great player for me at AFC and his progression in the professional game is so satisfying.”
