Green too strong for Winslow

Crawley Green claimed a 2-0 victory over Winslow United in Molten Spartan SML Division One on Wednesday night.

The visitors thought they had scored when Dean Bull palmed Drew Mitten’s free-kick against the bar on 29 minutes and Claude Sengal headed home the rebound only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Green then took the lead on 34 minutes when Adam Reid controlled Jamie Warne’s cross and fired home.

In the second half, ex-Crawley player Vinnie Shrieves shot just wide, while former striking partner Chris Gibson worked tirelessly to keep Winslow on their toes.

The Maroons made sure of victory with 10 minutes to go when full-back Rob Newman smashed home Warne’s corner from close range.

Tonight Crawley go to Wodson Park.
