The 30-year-old was released by Town last week, but is hoping to stay in League Two and step out at the ground where he spent over three years at once more.

Griffiths said: “I’ve spoken to a couple of managers that are going to contact me and I’ve had a manager from a League Two club contact me which is always nice as it takes the pressure of a little bit, knowing that I have a potential two or three options.

“It would be nice to come back and wave to all the fans and see everyone as there is a great bunch of people around the ground.”

On the Town support, he continued: “They’ve been fantastic for me, showed me a lot of love and respect and I really thank them for that as I never got a chance to go back on the field and clap them off.

“In all fairness, I probably shouldn’t have done, but when the referee pulled up or stopped, I had a little chat with some of the fans.

“They’re a great bunch of people and will be missed, especially the size of the crowd and when they’re on your side it’s fantastic.”

Griffiths is determined to stay in the Football League too, as he said: “With the right club in the Conference knowing that they really want to push, because that’s why I joined Luton in the first place.

“I knew what Stilly (John Still) wanted to do, he wouldn’t be happy staying in the Conference, he would want to push out of it.

“That’s why I came here, other than it was a big club too, but if I can help it I’d much rather stay in League Two and that’s what I’ll be doing hopefully.”

Meanwhile, Griffiths believes that Hatters are all set for a concerted push at promotion next season, although he jokingly suggested they might have to settle for a runners-up spot, saying: “If they do the right things in pre-season, if they stay focused, I’m pretty certain they could probably come second in the league.

“I say second, because wherever I am, I want to come first.”

Despite leaving the club, the full back has been impressed by manager Nathan Jones’ methods so far, adding: “As far as coaching goes, I don’t know whether it’s a confidence thing or a change in the way you’re allowed to play, but looking against Exeter and some of the training sessions, he (Jones) seems to getting the boys passing the ball a lot better.

“They seem like they’re a bit calmer on the ball, giving themselves a second longer to think about things, rather than just having to return it.

“I know we had a couple of loan players in which might have helped influenced some of the other younger lads, but as far as coaching goes and being his first managerial job, he seems like he’s doing the right thing.

“He’s getting the boys playing well together. It might not have gone as well as it could have done, but they didn’t all have a pre-season to bond together.

“So for what they did, with the amount of time they had to do it, I thought they did well and Nathan’s got to get some credit for that.

“From a coaching point of view and the staff he’s brought in himself, they’ve all done a fantastic job as well.”
