Hall hammers four as AFC thump Stotfold

Striker Jermaine Hall bagged four goals as AFC Dunstable took advantage of league leading Kings Langley’s match postponement with a resounding 5-0 win over Stotfold on Saturday.

The hosts immediately took the fight to their lowly opponents, with goals from Hall and Newman Carney giving them a well-deserved half-time lead.

Hall rounded off a fine performance in the second period, adding a further three goals to take his season’s tally to 22.

With skipper Moses Olaleye starting his four match ban, AFC boss Steve Heath welcomed back centre-back duo Leon Cashman and Grant Fryer, both missing from the Barton game while upfront Chris Francis resumed his partnership with Hall and Jonathan Cooper also got a start.

Stotfold came to Creasey Park on the back of a midweek defeat to Luton Town in the Bedfordshire Senior Cup, which saw them concede five despite a solid showing.

AFC were straight on the front foot, as they pushed Stotfold back and started to dominate possession.

It took 22 minutes to finally break them down when Hall latched onto a loose ball and finished with aplomb.

It was soon 2-0 when Taishan Griffith, who was dangerous all afternoon, drew a foul from Stotfold’s left back who tripped him in the box, and Newman Carney to smash home the subsequent penalty.

It took just six minutes after the break for Hall to register his second, and the star man completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to slot home from 15 yards.

To make matters worse for Stotfold trying to cope with Griffith, Heath introduced Jimmy Hartley and his trickery was soon causing them problems.

A trade mark run from Hartley down the line brought more dividends, as the substitute forced a penalty, which Hall duly dispatched 15 minutes from time.
