Totternhoe continue to lead the way in the SSML Division Two after a 6-0 demolition of Unite MK on Saturday.

Andy Cleere gave the hosts the lead on eight minutes when he reacted well to fire home a rebound after Dan Lambeth’s powerful drive from the edge of the box was parried.

Cleere doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a wonderful strike.

Aiden Murray rattled the crossbar with a drive from the left hand side which rebounded out to the right where the ball was picked up by Chris Golding.

He chipped the ball back across goal for Cleere who brought it down superbly before cutting back on to his right foot and firing home into the top corner.

The impressive Cleere completed his hat-trick on the half hour mark when he was played through by Sam Folland, and coolly dinked his attempt over the onrushing keeper.

Totts had to wait until the last five minutes of the game before scoring next, Lambeth curling into the top corner, to make it 45 for the season for the prolific forward.

A quick-fire Golding double wrapped up the scoring, as he took another through ball before beating the keeoer.

Then, with the last kick of the game, he took full advantage of a mistake to net the sixth.

Manager Chris Robson said: “Apart from the first 10 minutes where I felt we were terrible, it was a very pleasing performance and victory.

“We didn’t start the game well and it took a goal to get us going.

“Once we started though we played very well against a side who came into the game in some great form.

“We managed to play some great football on a difficult surface, and some of the goals we scored from an attacking point of view were superb.

“When you win 6-0 it is easy to praise the attackers, but I have to also mention our defence who were superb when called upon. Young James Bromhall in goal made two or three very important saves to keep another clean sheet as well.”

“It also showed the strength we have in the squad. We were without five first team regulars including Joel McCormick who has been so important for us.

“We went with Andy (Cleere) and Dan (Lambeth) up top as a two and both were exceptional. Unite MK couldn’t handle their power and pace.

“I was also able to call up a couple of players from the reserves and both did superbly.

“Harry Marlow when he came on was the best player on the park in my opinion. He has a great future ahead of him if he wants it.

“It is another win in the run in, and we know realistically we need to win our remaining nine games if we are to pip our title rivals to the title.

“We now have the luxury of two weeks off which gives us time to recharge the batteries and get everyone fit, whilst our rivals all now have to play two or three games a week until the end of the season which hopefully could work in our favour.”
