The former Brighton & Hove Albion first team coach has only been in charge for a little over two months, but Okuonghae has noticed huge improvements at the club already.

He said: “A lot has changed, the football side of things has changed. We’ve got a real good structure, there’s a lot of belief within the squad and we all know our jobs which is massive.

“We’ve got a clear strategy every week and that’s not to knock anything that’s gone before, but the boys are buying into it as you can see its been working on the pitch.

“Training’s been good, training’s been sharp and I think people are probably seeing the results on the pitch, so long may it continue.”

As a centre half, Okuonghae has seen his role change with Town now employing a far more possession based style of football, particularly in passing out from the back.

He continued: “It’s enjoyable, it’s different from what’s gone before, but every manager is going to have their different styles.

“Some of us have been around a long time and played under God knows how managers, so it is what it is.”

When asked if he felt his first few months had been a learning curve, Jones added: “Yes, definitely, decision making, how you handle things and how you handle people and so on, I’ve learnt quite a lot.

“I always want to move forward myself, I’ve always been a very proactive person and learnt a lot about the league, about managing different groups of players and I’ve got a good group here. I’m happy with that group, so I’m learning lots about lots of things, more so about myself.”
