Hatters defender could leave if deal is right

The 30-year-old had been a regular under previous manager John Still, but hasn’t started a match since the 4-3 home defeat to Northampton, which was Still’s last game in charge.

Although he came on as a sub in the 3-2 win over Exeter City, Griffiths hasn’t played since and is yet to even feature in the match day squad under Jones either.

The Luton chief said: “Everyone has an opportunity, Scott’s going to need to play games, one way or another and it was unfortunate we had two reserve games called off the other day as I would have been able to see him a little bit more.

“He’s trained well, attitude has been superb, like everyone else. There’s not anyone who hasn’t given that.

“He may need games in the forthcoming future, but we’ll evaluate that and if a move is right for him, to get games and it suits Luton, suits Scott, suits us all, then we might do that.”

Jones, who took charge earlier this month, has had to quickly evaluate the squad with the transfer window shutting on Monday, but despite the short period of time, won’t be taking any rash decisions.

He added: “It’s fine, I’ve got good staff here to guide me on what I’ve seen, I’ve got a pair of eyes and I see and trust my judgement.

“In certain things, I’m not going to know everyone, but I’m not going to make any kneejerk reactions either, like get him out or bring him in, I’m not.

“We have a structure to how we do stuff now at Luton and I want to continue with that.

“If that means bringing one or two in, taking a little bit longer to evaluate so that we don’t make any errors, then we’ll do that.

“I’m in no rush to do anything, no rush to add or get rid. We’ll do stuff at our own pace and we’re happy with how things are going.”
