Hatters rated v AFC Wimbledon

Stephen O’Donnell (STAR MAN): 6.5 - One of the few positives on the day for Town as he never gave up and was still trying to mount a comeback even when all was lost.

Jake Howells: 5.5 - Started out as left back and then shifted further forward during the second period to give Hatters some width. Got into the some good areas, but too often his final ball was disappointing.

Scott Cuthbert: 5.5 - Had his hands well and truly full with Lyle Taylor’s pace and power throughout but given precious little help from his midfielders as Dons cut through at will.

Alan Sheehan: 5.5 - Unfortunately keeps getting in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he turned the ball past Justham for the first and then deflected the second in too.

Olly Lee: 5 - Guilty of not closing down his men quick enough for two of the goals and went largely un-noticed during his time on the pitch.

Cameron McGeehan: 5.5 - Tried manfully to help Luton find a way back into the game and thought he had until goal was harshly ruled out for a handball by the linesman.

Paddy McCourt: 6 - Some wonderful vision again almost set up Benson as he always tried to find an opening. Paper thin defence at the other end curtailed his influence though.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 5 - Ball didn’t stick enough on his rare forays forward as possession was far too often handed back to the Dons. Didn’t reappear after the break either.

Jack Marriott: 6.5 - Can’t knock his effort as he tried all through the 90, chasing and harrying whenever he could. Back on the scoresheet once more too with a cracking strike.

Paul Benson: 5 - Few decent flick-ons but found it tough against an aerially powerful Dons back-line and could count himself lucky to stay on after a reckless challenge.

Magnus Okuonghae (SUB): 5 - His introduction didn’t have the desired effect at all, as Luton shipped another two quickfire strikes before he had got his boots dirty.

Jonathan Smith (SUB): 5 - Brought on really as Hatters went into damage limitation mode, with Dons eying a cricket score.

Joe Pigott (SUB): 6 - Gave Hatters a bit more presence in the final third, but game had gone a long time before he was introduced.
