Hatters rated v Leyton Orient

Jonathan Mitchell: 7.5 - Hugely impressive debut from the young Derby keeper who only met his team-mates on the morning of the game. Commanded his area well, good handling and decent distribution too. Promising stuff.

Stephen O’Donnell: 7.5 - Had to be careful up against Jerome Binnom-Williams after booking in the first half, but kept the full back’s supply-line to a minimum. Like the rest of the back four, can be pleased with his afternoon’s work.

Dan Potts: 7.5 - Came in from the cold for only his seventh start of the season and first since October 24. Didn’t look out of place as he stuck to his task well and inches away from a killer second goal too.

Scott Cuthbert (STAR MAN): 9 - Absolutely magnificent from the captain on his first return to former club. Blocked and cleared pretty much everything that came his way and fully deserved the clean sheet.

Alan Sheehan: 7.5 - Different kind of game for Sheehan this week as never had the chance to really get on the ball and build from the back. Showed he was more than happy to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in though.

Jonathan Smith: 7 - Zipped around the pitch with plenty of effort as he made sure Orient couldn’t settle. Gave everything to the cause once more in the second half too.

Olly Lee: 7 - Didn’t see anywhere near as much of the ball as he has in recent games but proved an effective screen in front of the back-line meaning O’s had to resort to going long.

Cameron McGeehan: 7 - Another who had to forego his usual attacking instincts for the cause at the weekend as Hatters battled their way to a crucial away victory.

Paddy McCourt: 7 - Had a 10-minute spell in the first half where he caused real trouble with some lovely passes through the heart of the Orient defence. Withdrawn midway through the second period though for some fresh legs.

Jack Marriott: 7.5 - Marvellous instinctive finish from Marriott for a 12th of an increasingly impressive season. Worked hard and always gave Luton an outlet when going forward.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 7 - Pace caused O’s defenders a few problems in the first half and good flick-on for Marriott’s opener. Up against two O’s defenders at times in the second period as he battled manfully to hold the ball up for the visitors.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 6.5 - Plenty of energy from Ruddock Mpanzu as he helped contain O’s attacking threats.

Danny Green (SUB) 6.5 - Like everyone else, had to do his bit defensively during his second half introduction, as chances to attack were few and far between.

Magnus Okuonghae (SUB): 6 - On the final moments as Potts came off with cramp as Luton held on for victory.
