Hatters rated v Mansfield

Elliot Justham: 7.5 - Commanded his area impressively and his handling was safe and secure throughout. Good distribution too as Luton built from the back.

Stephen O’Donnell: 7.5 - Getting better and better with each game he plays now. Defensively sound but still managed to burst forward whenever he could to help support and even overlap Ruddock Mpanzu at times.

Jake Howells: 7.5 - Neat and tidy display from Howells who kept things simple. Always confident in possession and eager to play it on the floor as instructed too.

Scott Cuthbert: 8 - Captain struck up an immediate understanding with Sheehan in the heart of Town’s defence. Never afraid to put a foot through it when needed as well.

Alan Sheehan: 8.5 - Looked a class act on his debut for the Hatters with an accomplished display alongside Cuthbert. More of the same and will be a fantastic first addition by Jones.

Alex Lawless: 8 - Excellent from Lawless who was asked to play a slightly deeper role than last week, but gave his defence real protection. Versatility is proving a real plus for Town.

Jonathan Smith: 7.5 - Got stuck into the Mansfield midfielders, never giving them any time on the ball to pick their passes as Hatters looked to dominate from the first whistle.

Paddy McCourt 8.5 - Terrific side-foot finish for the first and his cross found Pelly for the second. So exciting whenever in possession and here’s hoping this leads to a prolonged run in the side now.

Cameron McGeehan: 8.5 - Restored to the starting line-up and relished the opportunity to show Town’s new boss what he could do. Full of energy right until the very end and always carried a real threat to the home side.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (STAR MAN): 8.5 - Fantastic to see him back in a Luton shirt and doing what he does best. Good cross for opener, wonderful control and trademark thumping finish for the second. Fingers crossed he stays fit.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 7.5 - Ran and ran, then ran some more as he kept the Stags back-line on their toes for the entire time he was on. Just needs a goal now.

Olly Lee (SUB): 6.5 - First action for a while and kept things ticking over in central midfield.

Jack Marriott (SUB): 6 - Tried to stretch the Mansfield defence in the closing stages.

Frankie Musonda (SUB): 6 - Had barely a minute of action on his professional debut, but got involved immediately and what a moment for the youngster.
