The 20-year-old put pen to paper on a one year deal this afternoon, with the option of a further 12 months, should he continue to impress boss Nathan Jones.

Banton, who had been on the periphery under previous manager John Still, was handed his Football League debut by Jones in April and went on to make four appearances towardsthe end of the season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Jones said: “Zane is a hard-working young player and he caught my eye in training as soon as I arrived.

“I have always said that young players have to earn their place in my squad and Zane did exactly that last season.

“I am very pleased he has signed up for next season and if he continues to progress at the rate he did at the end of last season then he will get more opportunities to become a regular player here at Luton Town.”
