At Friday’s Luton Borough Council’s ‘Think Luton, Think Investment’ launch event in St Pancras, Hatters’ chief executive Gary Sweet announced the club’s intention to submit their plans prior to the start of the new 2016/17 football season.

As part of this process, a public consultation will take place beginning next month, where the 3D models unveiled at the event as well as architect’s CGI representations will be available to view by the public, along with further details relating to its developments in Luton.

Two applications will be submitted, one for a mixed use scheme at Power Court which will be anchored by a high quality, well specified, custom designed football stadium along with other supporting uses and the other for a mixed use scheme of offices, leisure and retail at Newlands Park with the latter financially facilitating the stadium construction.

Speaking about the proposals, Sweet told the club’s official website: “The submission of a planning application for a stadium at the heart of Luton is what we’re all working tirelessly towards.

“We’re delighted with the designs we’ve created with our team of architects, structural engineers and technical surveyors but, more importantly, these two schemes will help enormously to invigorate our town and region.

“Not only will this help create a more attractive place to live, work and play but the economic impact will be significant for both our town and club.”
