Dunstable Town fell to their first home league defeat since November 24 as they were beaten 2-0 by King’s Lynn at the weekend.

Blues boss Tony Fontenelle made two changes to his side as Connor Calcutt returned to spearhead the attack, while Luke Pennell replaced Howard Hall.

Early on, the visitors went close as Jacek Zielonka’s header narrowly cleared the crossbar, while skipper James Kaloczi cleared another attempt off the line.

King’s Lynn did take the lead after 16 minutes though when Liam Hurst’s diagonal beat Jamie Head to break the deadlock.

Still the Linnets threatened too as Adam Pepera made another vital clearance under pressure, while Lee Stevenson was also thwarted.

Blues could only mount some sporadic attacks of their own as David Keenleyside’s fine work with Calcutt resulted in a shot that was easy for keeper Alexander Street, while Adam Watkins blazed wide and Steven Gregory’s header was comfortably saved.

After the break, Dunstable broughton Gary Wharton for Steve Wales as the hosts tried to find a way back, with Wharton’s effort deflected wide, Watkins’ low shot saved and Kaloczi’s header easily held by Street.

Chris Vardy replaced Danny Talbot, before King’s Lynn had the crucial second on 76 minutes as Stevenson’s effort on the turn beat Head to make it 2-0.

The result, Dunstable’s second successive defeat, saw them drop out of the play-off places, as they sit in sixth place, level on points with Hungerford in fifth, but with an inferior goal difference.

This weekend, Blues head to mid-table Kettering Town.
