Louie Lobjoit saved well early on when Obisanya went clean through, but the Maroons hit the front after 12 minutes when Sam Holmes collected the clearance from Phil Draycott’s corner and fired past Axworthy.

The lead lasted just two minutes, as keeper Lobjoit was adjudged to have fouled Obisanya who stepped up to convert the penalty.

But two minutes later the Maroons restored their lead, Mark Bunker’s quick throw down finding Holmes who lobbed the advancing Axworthy.

Sam Holmes fired just over after good work by Danny Watson down the right.

Colney started the second half brightly, but Crawley were soon back on the attack with Sam Pemberton and Draycott working well down the left, and Watson just unable to connect from close range.

Colney sub Elliot Beever made penetrating runs which caused the away defence problems, but a precious win was sealed in the 64th minute when Michael Draycott headed home Billy Lobjoit’s corner.

Colney kept up a spirited resistance, but Crawley ran out 3-1 winners.

Crawley head to Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday (ko 3pm).

Crawley Reserves drew 1-1 at Cranfield, Lui Sarrington on target.
