The 27-year-old, who is expected to make his competitive debut for Luton at Home Park, insists that coming up against the team who missed out in the play-offs last term will provide an early test of Hatters’ promotion ambitions.

He said: “We’ve got a long week of training, everyone’s going to stake their claim to be in that starting 11 and whoever gets the nod, it’s a fantastic game.

“We couldn’t have picked a better game. They missed out on the play-off final, so they’re going to be looking to go one better and get promoted.

“I’m delighted with the game and say ‘bring it on.’”

Fellow new addition Jordan Cook was of the same opinion and believes Town will be roared on by a fine away following.

He continued: “I think it’s a good one because Plymouth always do well in this league, so it will be a good test and that’s what we want.

“We’d rather go straight out and get into the tough teams. It’s a big pitch and I think it will suit us. I’m sure the fans will come in their numbers and support the lads and hopefully get three points there.

“To have a game that quick come upon us where we can really test ourselves against top, top opponents is a good test.”

Hatters go into the game on the back of a final pre-season friendly defeat to Walsall, losing 1-0 last weekend, but boss Nathan Jones added: “I’m glad that happened this week and not next week, or any other week for that matter.

“I’m pleased overall because we’ve had a good pre-season, been a hard test.

“We haven’t gone up against easy opposition, we hand picked opposition to really test us, two play-off sides and we’ve acquitted ourselves very well.

“I’m pleased with where we’re at, now we’re ready to play.”
