Biggleswade Chronicle photographer June Essex captured the best action as Mid Beds Tigers were beaten by Barton Rovers Youth in their Bedfordshire Mini Soccer League U10 Division Four clash last weekend.

The visitors’ excellent goalkeeper prevented the Reds from grabbing an early lead and despite being dosed up with medicine, an off colour Alfie Smith couldn’t fire up the team.

Barton broke the deadlock before half time, and the hosts crumbled to concede a further three, which could have been four but for a fine fingertip save from keeper Archie McSherry.

The second period was one way traffic for long periods and were it not for McSherry’s agility between the posts it could have been double figures which earned him Tigers man of the match. The core of the squad is being strengthened though as Lewis Bardon, a tough little defender and Gabriel Bhatti, a pacey front man, have joined the ranks.

Tigers: Archie McSherry, Matthew Newman, Alfie Smith, Joshua Godding, James Barry, Gabriel Bhatti, Toby Hulme, Charlie Crossland, Lewis Bardon, Christian Bell.
