Injury-hit AFC Dunstable claim Hertford victory

Molten Spartan SML, Premier Division: Hertford Town 0 AFC Dunstable 1

Despite having just 11 men available AFC Dunstable scored a 1-0 victory at Hertford Town in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division on Thursday night.

With the reserved playing the same night, AFC’s XI included the likes of walking wounded Jonno Barnet as, against the odds, AFC came away with a great win to follow up a useful and well deserved draw against Haringey Borough on Tuesday night.

Chances were at a premium with defences in control as AFC keeper Sam Leggit hardly had a save to make all night.

Lee Burgoyne and Stef Pacey were both foiled by the home keeper when clean through, but AFC finally took the lead on 67 minutes when Archie Ryan helped on an inswinging corner as the ball nestled just within the far post.

Boss Alex Butler said: “Credit to all the players who have been outstanding in each of the previous three games in a five-day spell, which has bagged AFC a total of seven points.

“The effort the players have put in is phenomenal and shows the level of commitment they have for the club.”

AFC are now preparing for their Beds Senior Cup final at Luton Town on Wednesday, May 8.
