History was made at Creasey Park on Saturday as ‘invincibles’ Dunstable Town completed their unbeaten league season with a 2-0 Molten Spartan SML Premier Division victory over Hatfield Town.

The Blues joined the exalted ranks of the likes of Preston North End and Arsenal to go through an entire season without losing a league game.

Relegation-threatened Hatfield provided Town with a guard of honour as victory saw them end the season with a record of 36 wins and six draws from their 42 games.

Played in front of 348, Dunstable laboured to victory as they missed or fluffed a number of chances.

Town led through Phil Siggans’ sixth-minute own goal, hit the bar and the post, while hotshots Tony Burnett and Lee Roache missed easy chances.

Hatfield offered stubborn defensive resistance and mounted a series of counter-attacks in reply.
