The 23-year-old has had an injury-plagued few years with the Hatters, but finally started to play regularly once Jones was appointed in January.

“How we train them and what we try to do, so Pelly’s only going to get fitter and better. We’ve brought in a new sports scientist now, who again will get unveiled and I believe is the best I’ve worked with, he’ll do great work for us.

“So going forward, Pelly is only going to get stronger and it’s about managing him, improving a physical specimen. But he can get better as we evaluate all our players, what strengths, what weaknesses they have.

“We try to enhance their strengths, work on their weaknesses and Pelly’s one was he wasn’t able to put together a sustained run of training and games.

“Now he has, and he wasn’t far off being an ever present in training, which is a credit to him and also credit to the work we do.”
