Jones confirms Cuthbert will remain as captain

Cuthbert was named skipper under previous manager John Still after Steve McNulty left the club to join Tranmere, and Jones sees no reason to change that.

When asked about the captaincy, he said: “If Scott’s fit then he will because he’s a leader, he’s someone I can trust.

“I want to be close to my captain and Scott’s one I know, I’ve played against and I think he’s done quite well.

“He’s respected round here, so yes, Scotty will be my captain and then we’ll be moving on from here.”
