The Town chief, who has brought in seven new additions to Kenilworth Road so far this summer, has been left frustrated in his attempts to secure the final signature during recent weeks.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Walsall yesterday though, Jones said: “I’m hoping we can do that as it’s an important one.

“We wanted to get our squad done by a couple of weeks ago really and we felt that the club had been fantastic and almost allowed me to do that.

“Now we’re at a stage where we’ve just got to get one more in and we’re finished.

“So hopefully we can do that, but we’ve had to be patient on it as it’s the right one, we don’t just get anyone in, but hopefully we can get it done before Saturday.”

The Luton manager confirmed he wasn’t looking to rely on the loan market either, adding: “We’re hoping it’s a permanent signing, but these things, you never know how they’re going to pan out.

“So I don’t want to tempt fate or say anything I shouldn’t, but we are looking to just add one more.”
