Attendances have yet to break the 2,500 mark in the competition so far, with 2,408 for the 5-2 win over Yeovil in the last round, the best to date.

However, when asked for a message for supporters considering whether to go or not, with victory meaning a return to Wembley for the club against Coventry City in the final, Jones said: “If they want us to get to Wembley and would like a day out then come and support us on Wednesday.

“I know it’s a big ask, we’ve had a lot of home games lately, but we’re in good form too.

“It would be great to see the team get to Wembley and to be cheered on by our fans, so we appeal to them, if they’re umming and ahhing whether to come or not, then get behind us, because we won’t let them down.

“We hope we have a good crowd, the Sky cameras are there, so it’s a real good occasion for the club.

“We hope they turn out in force, because it’s an important one and we’d love to give the club a magnificent day out, but to do that, we have to beat a very good Oxford side.”
