Jones has already masterminded one upset in the competition this term, by knocking out Aston Villa, thanks to an excellent second half performance in which they dominated their opponents.

Afterwards, Jones described Kenilworth Road as ‘rocking’ and urged fans to repeat those efforts tonight, as he said: “We hope so, as Kenilworth Road when it has that kind of atmosphere is a great, great place to play football and we love it.

“We want the fans to be like that, Leeds fans will make noise, so we want to make more.

“We want them to get behind them and then hopefully we can give them another night that they can be proud of and they can remember because as we keep saying, they’re part and parcel of what we’re trying to do here.

“I’m sure our fans will turn out and just hope we give them the performance that they can get behind.”

Jones is also eager for supporters not to be put off from attending by the 2-1 defeat to Stevenage at the weekend, as he continued: “I hope our fans turn up and hope they don’t just look at the result on Saturday and think, no.

“Because the performance level didn’t match the result, so I’m really, really hoping they turn out and we give them a good night because it’s a fantastic game for the football club.

“It’s a fantastic game for us to test ourselves once again on where we want to end up as Leeds have started to hit a bit of form, new manager who’s a good manager, it will be a real good test.”

Despite losing their unbeaten record at the weekend, Jones remains confident that Luton can be in the hat for the third round draw tomorrow evening, as he added: “We think so, it’s a cup game, so anything can happen.

“We’re confident, we’re in good form at the minute and we’re looking forward to the game.

“We beat Aston Villa and deservedly so, our second half performance was outstanding, and we’re looking to recreate that again. We know we’re going to have to because Leeds are a very good side.”
