Goalkeeper Elliot Justham has been backed to take his latest opportunity for Luton Town this weekend.

The 25-year-old will be between the posts for the visit of Accrington Stanley after Derby County recalled young stopper Jonathan Mitchell on Tuesday.

Justham has made 10 appearances so far this term, the last coming in a 4-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon in February, but with Mark Tyler loaned to Peterborough for the remainder of the campaign, Town’s number two is in line to complete the season now.

Boss Nathan Jones said: “It’s another opportunity for Elliot, we’re comfortable with Elliot, we’re very confident in Elliott.

“He wasn’t omitted when Jonathan came in, it wasn’t so much he lost his place, we felt it was the right time to bring Mark Tyler back.

“It’s just when Mark left, we allowed Mark to leave in order to bring in another one, we’ve had to do decisions which in everyday life you wouldn’t just let people go.

“But we’ve had an opportunity to improve the squad, to look further ahead and we had to make some harsh decisions.

“So Elliot was brought out before that, but he’s been patient, he’s been very professional, he’s trained very, very well, he hasn’t sulked, and it’s another opportunity.

“So either it’s motivation to prove a point, whether it’s motivation to continue his development as a young keeper, who knows, I know he is motivated and we’ve got no problem.”
